Homemade Rice Krispies Squares: Always the Best!

When it comes to Rice Krispies squares, nothing beats the homemade version. Every time I’ve tried store-bought or even fancy coffee shop versions, I’ve been left wondering, what on earth are these made of?! They may look like the real thing, but they lack the taste and texture of fresh, homemade perfection.

There’s just something about the simplicity of this classic recipe—gooey marshmallows, crispy cereal, and that unmistakable chewy crunch. It’s nostalgia in every bite. And no matter how many people are around when I make them, they’re always gone by the end of the day… or sooner! Lol!

So, skip the packaged versions and whip up a batch of the real thing. They’re quick, easy, and guaranteed to disappear before you know it. ❤️🍚✨

Rice Krispies Treats

Special Note: These are often formed in a cake pan and then cut into squares. In my version, I have some fun shaped ‘cake’ pans. Either way, whatever form is used needs to be well buttered and if you need to use your fingers to compress the rice krispies treats into their form, you might need a little butter on your fingertips. This stuff is sticky :).

Ingredients:

  • 1/4c butter

  • 5c miniature or 40 regular marshmallows

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

  • 6c Rice Krispies

Instructions:

  1. Melt butter in a large saucepan (I used my big pasta/soup pot) over low heat.

  2. Add marshmallows; stir until melted and well blended.

  3. Remove from heat.

  4. Stir in vanilla (if using)

  5. Add rice krispies cereal stirring until well coated.

  6. Using lightly buttered spatula (if pressing into a cake pan), press into the buttered pan.

  7. Cool and cut into squares.

  8. And watch them disappear ;).
