My Guild Guitar and Some Old School Classics

My Guild Guitar and Some Old School Classics

I never know where I’m going to get inspiration from but my favorite place is always from my sons. Last week our oldest son came to spend his week off in the summer with my husband and I at our family lake cottage. He brought with him his guitar, saxophone, banjo and harmonica, which he played on our dock after sunset for the delight and enjoyment of our neighbors and the boats cruising by. However, I doubt he knows that he inspired me to pick up the guitar with my thinking to myself, ‘wouldn’t it be cool to be able to jam with my son?’. This led my husband driving me on the weekend to the only two music stores for 100kms. One was called ‘Melomania’ and it was there that I met the owner ‘Paul’…and tried all his guitars, leaving with my Guild Guitar. His store also had a small section of $5 used vinyl albums, just what we love. Below is a picture of 6 albums my husband came away with:

Al Green Greatest Hits: I don’t know how we got so lucky to snag this used album. I could definitely listen to this on repeat!! This is a 1975 greatest hits release by soul singer Al Green. In 2003, the album was ranked #52 on Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time and maintained that position in the 2012 revised list. And yet all I can really say is, WOW!!

Sergio Mendes & Brasil Greatest Hits: Latin flavour to highly recognizably pop rock classics of the late ‘60’s.

Chariots of Fire: A timeless sountrack from a classic movie.

Latin Quarter Modern Times: …kinda requires a special taste and mood for me to be in to fully enjoy ;).

George Thorogood and the Destroyers: the singing isn’t always my favorite but the guitar licks are amazing!!

The Cars: Okay, the album cover is outstanding ;)!! and the songs…talking about taking me back in time! utter fun classics!!
