Mini-Herb Pots
Mini Herb Pots: A Simple Growing Experiment
(The cover photo is at 4 weeks—still young seedlings, not yet outside…)
One thing I’ve learned about gardening? Just try. Overthinking can lead to not trying, and this year—thanks to COVID-19—there was no time for second-guessing.
Self-isolating in a remote location meant very few trips to the local hardware and garden center (just two quick visits in 12 weeks). So when I spotted these delightful mini herb pots for parsley, basil, and chives, I grabbed them without hesitation. (A good call, because when friends went later, everything was sold out!).
What really stood out about these mini herb kits was the growing mix. Each pot came with a small dry soil pellet and simple instructions: add ½ cup of water. Watching the dry mix expand and transform reminded me of a childhood science experiment—so fun!
The pictures below show the pellets after water was added and then, after fluffing with a fork, they turned into the perfect amount of soil to fill each pot and get these tiny herb seeds started. It still amazes me how such tiny seeds grow into something so useful, making me wonder about the nutritional power of seeds in general… but that’s a thought for another day!
For now, I’m just excited to watch these little herbs grow. 🌱✨
