Basil in a Pandemic Year at the Lake
Basil in a Pandemic Year
In a normal year, my husband comes back from the Show and Shine Community Car Show with incredible basil plants—a little tradition that always ensures we have a lush, fragrant supply all summer long.
But with no community events this year due to the COVID pandemic, there were no basil plants to be found. So, I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I started with two basil plants from the grocery store, picked out a great pot, found a terrific sunny location, and gave them some fertilizer and love. The result? They flourished!
One of my favorite things about this setup is the glass base of the pot, which lets me see the roots—a little behind-the-scenes look at just how strong and healthy these plants have become. Now, they sit proudly in their statement locationat the head of our covered BBQ area, thriving in their perfect spot.
Turns out, even in an unusual year, basil still found its way into our home. 🌿✨
