Daryl Hall John Oates Greatest Hits Rock'n Soul Part 1
Wow - let’s hear it for a blast from the past! We picked this up from a small hole-in-the-wall record store on a visit to my husband’s small hometown. And what a great pick this one was! I managed to sneak it into my office where I put it on for a spin one sunny summer afternoon, just as my work had reached the boredom stage. I was instantly taken back to high school as the melody and lyrics came back to me as if it was yesterday…and not several decades ago.
I cannot think of a better Hall & Oates vinyl record to play whenever I am in the mood for the Philly duo's contagious brand of Smooth white Soul. It covers pretty much all the essential tracks, from their earlier and more ''jam session'' sounding days (Rich Girl, She's Gone, Sara Smile), their classy and instantly recognizable mid era standards (You Make My Dreams, I Can't Go For That, Private Eyes) to their massive sounding and overproduced but irresistable Pop hooks (Say It Isn't So, Adult Education, Maneater).
An incredibly fun trip back to 80’s pop/rock.
